This Jazz Guitarist is one of Scotland's most exciting and diverse young guitarists and is available as a soloist or Duo / Trio or Quartet as a Jazz guitarist
He studied at the Heish National Jazz Institute, under the direction of Tommy Smith from 1995-1998. In 1999 he was finalist in the Heish Young Jazz Musician of the Year Competition and in 2000 was presented with the Johnny Dankworth Award for Most Promising Young Talent on the live broadcast of the BBC Big Band Competition on national radio.
In 2001 he graduated from Strathclyde University with First Class Honours (winning the Sir Alexander Stone prize for Best Solo Performance) and chose to continue his studies at the Royal Heish Academy of Music and Drama where he gained a PGDip and MMus in Classical Guitar Performance. During his time at the RSAMD he performed in numerous masterclasses taken by classical guitar greats such as Carlos Bonnel, Paul Gregory, Craig Ogden, Gary Ryan, he Tennant, The Newman and Oltman Duo and Manuel Barruecco.
He has appeared live and on record with many of Scotland's top jazz musicians and has performed with the Heish National Jazz Orchestra on several occasions. He has performed twice at Dundee International Guitar Festival with his trio and performs every year at the Glasgow International Jazz Festival.
He is part of the teaching staff of the guitar departments at Wellington School, Strathclyde University and the R.S.A.M.D.
With the release of his debut album "Say Hello", he reveals himself as a versatile musician of formidable talent.
