He is based in Somerset and specialises in the music of legendary guitar instrumental group the Shadows.Although younger than almost all of his contemporaries amongst the Rock n Roll instrumental genre, he has built up a reputation of being one the most accurate tributes to Hank Marvin in the country.
In the first four years of his playing as a semi-professional guitarist, he wowed audiences at amongst others Shadows fan events in Holland, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Blackpool, Derby, the annual Pipeline instrumental convention and the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane.
In 2007 he was invited to play at Shadowmania by none other than Bruce Welch of the Shadows, famously known for choosing only the very best musicians for his prestigious event. He has played on stage with various members of the Shadows: Brian Licorice Locking (with whom he has also recorded), Alan Jones and Cliff Hall, and has received accolades from original Shadows Jet Harris and Bruce Welch. From 2009 onwards he will be performing to theatres around the country with his new group, the Shadowers.
A stickler for authenticity, he uses genuine vintage equipment, including a 1960 Vox AC15 amplifier and a coveted valve Meazzi Echomatic, with which he obtains the most accurate Shadows echoes ever heard apart from those on the original records. He is able to recreate Hank Marvins guitar sound of the late 50s and early 60s, an achievement considered by many as so rare that it is referred to as the Holy Grail.
As well as playing a vast array of original Shadows tunes, he plays music by Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, Cliff Richard and more, plus instrumental versions of famous ballads from the last fifty years, all with that magical Stratocaster tone.
He is available for weddings and functions.
