Biography
This Yorkshire classical guitarist started playing guitar at the age of 10.
Specialising in solo classical guitar, he has been playing for over 40 years, during which time he has become a master of the art.
He now practices a minimum of four hours per day to maintain his high standard and to expand his classical repertoire.
In great demand as a teacher, with over 30 years teaching experience, his skill, technique and knowledge have become renowned in the area. He has an avid following of listeners as well as pupils and is a highly valued member of the Chesterfield Guitar Society.
He specialises in private tuition but has also taught in various educational establishments in the area and has performed as part of group on numerous occasions.
SAMPLE REPERTOIRE
This guitarist plays around 2 hours of jazz standards including Stormy Weather, Wonderful World, Over the Rainbow, Blue Moon, Summertime, Cavatina (theme from the deer hunter) and many more.
The set also includes popular pieces by The Beatles, Duke Ellington, Gershwin, Hoagy Charmicheal and Harold Arlen.
His classical repertoire includes pieces by Bach, Barrios, Tarrega (Recuerdos del Alhambra, Caprichio Arabe), Albeniz (Torre Bemeja, Asturius) and other well known pieces such as Classical Gas, and studies by Carcassi, Sor and Llobet
He also plays gentle easy listening Celtic music.
